After much toing and froing I finally bit the bullet and dist-uprgaded
to unstable.

Now OpenOffice works! (I guess the problem was the Xfree 4.2.1-3
nv driver; I'm now running 4.2.1-4).

Of course, as noted yesterday, now kde doesn't....
