A lot of this sort of stuff is in the Ethernet HOWTO, /usr/doc/Ethernet-HOWTO.gz on your system or <URL:http://sunsite.unc.edu/mdw/HOWTO/Ethernet-HOWTO.html>. Have a look at this and see if you can get started.
