I think you are mistaken, but continue on ... : 1. How do I get _that_ /etc/crontab to run? /etc/crontab is the system crontab - whatever you put in there will be run when you say so, period. Note that an entry in /etc/crontab has an extra entry, the "user" field. This is documented in "man 5 crontab", which is clearly documented in my cron manpage. : 2. Where do I find docs on this _new_ way of running cron. There are : no man pages. ( yes I have man packages installed) If you have no manpage for cron you probably haven't installed cron, or something is severly hosed. Try (re)installing the "cron" package.
