In my .bash_profile, I have:
XNLSPATH=/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/nls
export XNLSPATH
And since I use X, in my .xsession I have:
# Got it from <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
if [ -f $HOME/.bash_profile ]; then
. $HOME/.bash_profile
fi
