I am doing it right at the moment.  This little 4 MB 486sx notebook
swaps to death but it works.

And as I don't have a CDROM, I have to use the rather sloooooww
LapLink for using the Debian archive from my tower.

But it works.

You have to use the lowmem install disk _AND_ the rescue disc. 

Before you finally reboot make sure, that you have a swap partition
entry in /target/etc/fstab (if not, you'll get problems on bootup).
