I've never installed from an existing hard drive partition, but I believe you can't install from the disk you're installing to, because that disk will get initialized/formatted part-way through the install. You'll probably want to move the debian directory to C:. This won't solve your immediate problem though; hopefully someone else will respond and give you more details.
