I recently mailed to this list about my problems with exactly the same card. The problem is in the drivers. I finally solved the problem installing the kernel-source from 2.0.35 (from slink), and replacing the file 3c59x.c with the one from ftp://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/pub/linux/drivers/test/3c59x.c. Then you have to compile this kernel withe the 3c59x drivers (not the 3c90x drivers) and it should work.
