Debian is supporting non-ide cd-roms. According to the Hardware HOWTO the Mitsumi CR DC LU05S is supported (use the MCD or MCDX driver) I have Debian on an old 486 with a Mitsumi FX001D/F which is also supported by these drivers. They are -- as well as FPU-Emulation -- part of the standard Kernel which comes with Debian. Hope You will be successful. Markus.
