If you are trying to send mail from another machine on the network through this mail server, you probably need to review your /etc/mail/access file and include RELAY lines for the ips of the sender machines. Can you get any email out at all? If you can, send some email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and you'll get an echo reply with your email contents as seen by my machine.
