With your help I have successfully compiled kernel 2.0.34 now that my fan is blowing through the computer. Obviously a temporary solution, but that's not why I'm writing this message...
I get this in /var/log/messages: Jul 6 16:59:56 server2 syslogd 1.3-3#17: restart. Jul 6 16:59:56 server2 kernel: Cannot find map file. Jul 6 16:59:56 server2 kernel: Loaded 43 symbols from 4 modules. when my computer boots with the new kernel. Does this mean I have done something wrong (again)?
