i'm not an nfs expert, but i have one suggestion for you, though i don't
know if it will fit the bill, so to speak...
if you have r00t access on at least one of the machines, you can
change the uid to match the other. of course then you'll have a bunch
of files still owned by this old numeric id, which you can change with
find / -uid olduid -exec chown newuid {} \;
