I think that you should look at ppptcp - it allows for ppp sessions over tcp connections, with or without encryption. I don't remember where I picked it up, I think it may have been on sunsite... The filename is ppptcp-0_5_tar.gz, if you can't find it (with ftpsearch or some other such thing) then I can mail a copy over.
