try this:

restore -if /dev/<your_tape_dev>

restore > cd bcwhite/longtmp
restore > add testfuncs.cpp
restore > extract

at the "Specify next volume" prompt, enter 1 or 0 (i don't recall
which one works).

this will restore that file (and the directory tree it's in) into
the current working directory of where you originally executed restore.
