Do you know about the mt command ? "Magnetic Tape" It's used to control the tape, rewind it and such.. I think it can switch on hardware compression no some SCSI tapes. Go read some documentation about the ftape driver too, it's used for tape drives attached to the floppydrive port, but it has some general backup information too. > What's is better than tar to do backups?
