Hi, I've burned some CDs on a Pinnacle Micro CD writer successfully for the most part (I did have some failures). I was using X-CD-Roast which is Tcl/Tk GUI front end to cdrecord. There is a hamm package for it. I believe that X-CD-Roast is still in beta stages so it still a little buggy. For example, I used X-CD-Roast 0.96d-beta4 on one of our bo systems but it segmentation faults whenever I try to master a CD. I don't know if this happens with the hamm xcdroast package. I built xcdroast myself on our bo system.
