eximconfig shouldn't run on upgrades, so I'm surprised it tried to run it anyway. I've spotted the error. I hadn't bothered to test it as the only change was in a comment; however it was a comment in the generated config file, and so embedded in a perl string---and that meant that the apostrophe in the comment terminated the string and caused the script to die.
