Hi Debian Users !
I have a problem with the way I have done something. I don't blame
Linux for its lovely 11 oscars, so it is my fault for not configuring the
X-Server properly. Ok, I will start my Super Problem:
I have a portable computer from DIGITAL. It is a Hi Note CT475. It
is a good system and Debian GNU/Linux works perfectly on it, but a silly
user like me managed to download about every single x-server there was on
the dselect program and installed one of them (I can't remember which
one). Anyway, the configuration was pretty dificult. I had to install a
psaux mouse (the portable has a MINIDIM mouse port), the VGA was a super
VGA and the board was something I can't remember. Anyway, the final
question was if I wanted to start the x-server now, and answered Yes.
The problem begins now: The system boots up properly, but when it
gets to :

                  Debian GNU/Linux 1.3 onyx tty1

                  onyx login: _

The system goes crazy and the screen goes off, then turns on as
ScreenSaver mode, then flashes the login screen, and then restarts the
cicle. The times this happens is :

                   login screen : 0,5 seconds
                   off screen : 1,0 seconds
                   saver screen : 1,0 seconds

Anyway, I spoke to a friend who is a Systems Administrator, and he
explained to me that I had to but in RESCUE mode and un-mount a partition
to solve the problem. I haven't touched anything just in case I wipe
something off. I sort of like spent 3 days downloading files for the
portable and I don't particularly want to install the System fom zero
again.
Anyway, I hope that someone can help me with this problem. My
e-mails are :

Best Regards

Neil Roberts
