I saw a while back on a friend's system that the AIC-7xxx SCSI controller did not boot properly when using the Debian 1.3.1 rescue disk.
I have someone who wants to install Debian and has two SCSI systems to play with. Both Adaptec. One is an AIC-7xxx that I warned him about, but the other is an AIC-6xxx (I am not sure the exact numbers). When he tried the AIC-6xxx he did not get the spurious interupt error, but got a SCSI reset: SCSI Bus has been reset for host0 channel0 SCSI host 0 abort (PID??) timed out. Resetting I know I have seen SCSI resets, but never off of the boot disks? Are there a better set of boot disks or a special Adaptec set that can be made? If I need to special make a rescue disk, how do I go about doing adding a special kernel so the disk boots into the install script?
