Launch your favorite email reader ('mail' will do) and see if you have a message titled "mail to root". 4. You should check out the Mail-Administrator and Mail-User HOWTO docs. Debian installs exim by default, anything named 'sendmail' on a default Debian system is actually a symlink to exim.
