Pardon my ignorance - but is it possible to use the debian install program (from the floppies) to recompile the kernel with additional modules (e.g. PLIP) without having to reinstall the whole OS and current file system?
No. But you can do it *without* the floppies. ;-) I suggest you install the kernel-source and kernel-package packages, and read their documentation. Now that I look, it seems that plip is included in the base Debian kernel (kernel-image-2.0.32, at lesat) as a module. Have you actually tried using it? -- TO UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THIS MAILING LIST: e-mail the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED] . Trouble? e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] .
