As recommended by Eric S. Raymond in his "Ultimate Linux Box" articles, I would recommend an external U.S. Robotics V.Everything external. When I have to use a modem (when the DSL goes down, or dialing up to my friendly neighborhood BBS), this is my warrior. It works like a champ. If you can't find this modem anywhere, I suggest an external modem. Most internal modems today are WinModems, plus, they make debugging of serial problems a pain, and the only way to perform a hard reset of them is to restart the computer. Not exactly the best for uptime. My two cents, -- Edward Guldemond -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
