Debian uses an installer script to install netscape.
You must put the (right version of) the netscape .tar.gz in /tmp and then
install the netscape.deb. It will install netscape optimally for you.

I don't quite understand what you mean here. Could you tell us where it
goes wrong and what errors are output?
