AND, further to this I have settled for a solution which goes like this... keep the IP going over the eepro100 (built-in), I have a Western Digital (old-cheapo) configured with 10.0.0.1 and netatalk running on it. Even though the IP number is bogus (I guess it just needs to be there to have the interface UP) the appletalk routing seems to work fine. Thus it can be a High-performance WWW server out the eepro100 and the Macs can upload there WWW pages via the WD card---not ideal but at least I didn't have to spend any more money...
