Are users able to run their own inetds, in general, on Unix? On this system, I have just a user account, and am currently running some Internet services for some group projects. I would like to run these out of inetd instead of standalone, but when I made my own configuration file and run inetd, it runs ok but doesn't do anything. eg I made my own inetd.conf with an entry
28123 stream tcp nowait hamish /usr/sbin/in.telnetd and ran inetd, but connections are always refused. This happens on both Debian hamm and Solaris 5.5.1.
