You still might want to have these weird entries in /etc/passwd for supporting netgroups, for example. The [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED], -user, +user entries in /etc/passwd ar IMHO much more flexible than to have only the choice between all or nothing. And you can have this (I assume) with libc6, too, just use passwd: compat group: compat in /etc/nsswitch.conf. At least this does work with the NYS-enable libc.
