I would do the following, simplified from what I have:
.xsession: #!/usr/bin/zsh
exec /usr/bin/ssh-agent ~/.xsession-real
.xsession-real: #!/usr/bin/zsh
/usr/bin/ssh-add < /dev/null
exec /usr/bin/X11/fvwm2
