Ulf Jaenicke-Roessler kindly pointed out to me that ncurses3.4 is now in ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/hamm/hamm/binary-i386/base so I have solved that problem. Many of you know what the next question will be.
Where do I find libreadlineg2? I don't see it in the ls-lR.gz file from ftp.debian.org.
