Yup, the machine in the main office is a Debian box. The machines in the remote offices will be Debian boxes too. I wouldn't use any other OS that is not Linux (Debian); it has proven to be rock stable and when talking about connectivity, imagination is the limit. I am thinking about having the main server at the main office calling the remote sites every one or two hours. When the connection is made, e-mail and other files are going to be transferred.
