Hi everyone,

I bought the latest release of InfoMagic's famous 6-CD-ROM set, in
order to upgrade my system from 1.1.4 to 1.2.10. I found that several
files were missing. Among them is the xlib6_3.2-1a.1.deb package which
is vital to be able to run X-applications. At least this file was
present on ftp.debian.org. Is this InfoMagic's fault, or is it
possible that the missing files were not in the archive when the
CD-mirror was taken? I wrote a script to check all the Packages.gz
files to see if they were present on the CD. This resulted in 33 files
that were not on the CD, and 92 files that were in other places than in
the Packages.gz files (essentially missing links). I think this kind
of omissions will be giving Debian a bad name. The distribution on the
latest InfoMagic CD-ROM set won't run X-windows, and give loads of
errors with dselect. Is it being checked that the archives are
consistent with the Packages files? Should I complain with InfoMagic?
Would it be a good idea to store the missing files somewhere on the
debian archives, with a clear message to people who bought this CD-ROM
set? I encountered similar problems with the previous CD-ROM set,
which I used at work, but not with the CD-ROM set that contained 1.1.4,
the first Debian distribution I installed. Any other comments?
