There are many ways which lead you to rome...

You can wipe out the complete disk but the installation routine from
Debian can take over this job.

You can also grab a dpkg*_i386.tar.gz which contain a binary version
of dpkg which can be installed on an existing system such as slackware.
Then you can install Debian packages one by one and upgrade your
system in a very smooth way.
