A took which can check the consistancy of the journal may be needed though(fsck for ext3 may do this transparently). reiser has a tool that does this as well but it doesn't do an actual filesystem check(in the traditional sense like on ext2, or ufs or whatever) from what I can tell in the help for resiercheck at least.
