I installed from a CD which had Debian with kernel 2.0.0. I wanted to upgrade to 2.0.27 so I just ftped the file kernel-image-2.0.27_1.00.deb and ran dpkg on it. It seemed like everything was fine but then I could not use my floppies etc. I thought that just getting the file and running dpkg would simply upgrade me to the latest kernel, but apparently that is not the case. /************************************************************************/ D.J.
