During bootup from the 1.2 rescue disk, Debian sees my two hard drives (identical Western Digital 1.2GB units, as primary master and secondary master, with Sony CDU-311 as secondary slave) differently than the BIOS does, and different from each other. They're identical, but Linux sees them as
hda: CHS 621/64/63 hdc: CHS 2484/16/63 The BIOS is configured to have both be 621/64/63. There is no /dev/hdc available in the installation script for partitioning a hard disk. My installation is dependent on splitting my partitions between the two drives. Can someone help? I'm running into similar misdetection problems on my other Linux machine, which doesn't see my hdc the same as my hda, which are matched Quantum 850s. Any similar ideas? I can't get LILO to install nor can I make a boot floppy for my spare bootable. Thanks, --Pete _______________________________________________________________ Peter J.
