Yup... I have Oreilly and Associates "Running Linux" and I can definitely recommend it as a general guide for maintaining a Linux box...especially if you are using any version of Slackware Linux. Most of the examples in the book appear to come from a Slackware distribution and as such it should ease the learing curve. For help on installation the best thing is Matt Welsh's book "Installing Linux" which is also available from Oreilly and Associates. Also you might be able to get a somewhat older but still useful version of Matt's book on the net. Good Luck.....
