I'm having problems with devices. I put on a clean install of the latest Debian stable release. Then I downloaded and installed mdutils.deb, since I want to have /usr span a couple partitions on 2 drives. When I use
mdadd /dev/md0 /dev/hdb4 /dev/hdd3 I get a message Device /dev/md0 does not exist. Of course, it _does_ exist in the filesystem but somehow won't be found. BTW, I'm signed on as root when I try this. I had a similar problem with one of the sound devices. I've an Ensoniq Soundscape card and recreated the kernel and pertinent modules (this on a previous installation). When I tried to run ssinit (the initialization program for Soundscape), I received a similar message. Thanks in advance for any help! Vern Vernon M. Hamberg Old Republic National Title Insurance Co.
