i hate to answer my own questions, but after comparing the files in
1.4.2 to 1.4.3 i've discovered that 1.4.3 will let you set the
download directory as opposed to 1.4.2 when it was hardcoded. so one
needs to setup the access mode again and after that everything will
work just fine. shouldn't this be done automatically when installing
the package? i think it should. maybe we should consider this a bug.
