If anyone's following this, you might want to know that I'm successfully renewing leases now. My initial problem was that I'd get a dhcp lease when I booted but lose it two hours later. Eventually I noticed something was hitting port 113 on my firewall looking for service 'auth.' I opened that service to that machine. I also installed dhclient. I think opening the port would have been enough, but I include the reference to dhclient just in case.
