Perhaps the best solution is to create a new profile and retrieve
some of the files from your old profile. Otherwise you can try to
edit the Extensions.rdf file (after a backup) and ignore the other
directories.

BTW, concerning the responsiveness, I find Firefox very slow when
typing characters in forms (from web pages), like the very simple
one on Google's home page: Firefox reacts at a speed of about
4 characters per second. Moreover Firefox takes 100% CPU time
when I'm typing in a form. But if I paste a string, it appears
immediately. So, the problem comes from the input method. Has
anyone noticed this problem?
