I'm a little confused. How does one determine what partition their /boot is on ? Here is my directory structure in /boot (It looks to me that my boot is root ?); But according to Lilo.conf it's different: (Relevant Lilo.conf line); boot=/dev/hda # Specifies the device that should be mounted as root. (`/') # root=/dev/hdc1 (boot directory listing); :/boot# ls -ls total 11704 224 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 224124 Mar 4 2004 System.map-2.2.20-idepci 540 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 548511 Apr 14 2004 System.map-2.4.25-1-386 536 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 542191 May 16 04:38 System.map-2.4.27-2-386 4 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 512 Mar 4 2004 boot.0300 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 11 Mar 4 2004 boot.b -> boot-menu.b 308 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 308326 May 30 21:31 coffee.bmp 4 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3888 Mar 4 2004 config-2.2.20-idepci 44 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 44109 Apr 14 2004 config-2.4.25-1-386 44 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 44853 May 16 03:46 config-2.4.27-2-386 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 Jun 24 2004 debian.bmp -> /boot/sid.bmp 156 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 153720 May 30 21:31 debianlilo.bmp 3756 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3842048 May 23 2004 initrd.img-2.4.25-1-386 3712 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3796992 Jun 7 01:18 initrd.img-2.4.27-2-386 72 -rw------- 1 root root 69120 Jun 8 15:18 map 24 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 23662 May 30 21:31 sarge.bmp 24 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 24116 May 30 21:31 sid.bmp 656 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 665509 Mar 4 2004 vmlinuz-2.2.20-idepci 796 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 808860 Apr 14 2004 vmlinuz-2.4.25-1-386 804 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 816590 May 16 04:38 vmlinuz-2.4.27-2-386 > image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.27-2-686 > # or without the /boot if a link is set in / > label=Deb-2.4.27 > root=/dev/hdc1 # your / > initrd=/boot/initrd.img-2.4.27-2-686 > append="hdx=ide-scsi" # change the x to yours > read-only My present LILO.conf doesn't have the append line, like your example. Is it necessary to include your depend line ? If you wouldn't mind explaning what this Stanza does.
