You could put it in /home/java, and then symlink it to /usr/share/java, if you feel that's necessary. If you run ext2/3 on your home partition, you *could* resize it, I suppose, but I don't know that I'd really recommend it. Remember, in the *nix world, you can put *almost* anything pretty much anywhere.
