I have already mentioned twice on this list that I am having a problem with updates. I reinstalled Synaptic, apt and all of the various apt related applications and now have Synaptic running properly. I then recalled that when kde-package manager crapped out was right after I ran Synaptic on my system for the first time. I then looked at the docs for synaptic and noticed that it seems to alter the way apt records the way the applications relate to the available ones. Has any body got an idea why or if this might cause kde-package mgr to not recognize that there are files available for update. Thanks. -- John Foster
