I am a debian newbie, learning the ropes. I have seen the update-modules command on a few mailings to debian-user. But when I go to the man page to find out what it does, it says: UPDATE-MODULES(8) Debian UPDATE-MODULES(8) NAME update-modules - obsolete command what is it doing? I am running sid and I see files a /etc/modules /etc/modules.conf /etc/modules.conf.old and a /etc/modprobe.d/ directory with aliases. Is there a nice document to explain the relative roles of these files/directories and their associated shell commands in a modern debian environment?
