Then you're using the wrong search terms.  Adding the term "debian" or 
"site:debian.org" is almost always a sure win.  Sometimes trying that 
trick using Google's Linux-specific search can get some better gains 
(http://www.google.us/linux/ ; substitute country code for local 
mirror).

I think it's a Bad Thing that Google is deliberately confusing the 
Google-run mailing list/Usenet boundary.
