Serial terminals can often be found for free -- go talk to your local university or college, and ask around the computer center. They probably have some VT220s or VT320s around that are just taking up space. Or buy a $20 one off of EBay. Old DEC and WYSE are pretty much the best available. Finding a long serial cable can be a hassle, but it's easy to find adapters that will put a DB9 to a CAT3 or CAT5 ethernet cable, and this is reasonably reliable for low-speed serial comms -- say, 38,400 or less. > 4) What about crossover cable vs actually using a switch for > a two computer network? It works, but you can buy a new 5-port 10/100 switch for $12. Here: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=33-327-110&depa=0 Buying a crossover cable in your local store is probably more expensive than that. -dsr- -- Nothing to sig here, move along. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
