Unless I'm mistaken, no generic DMS (or VMS) can sensibly support a diff operation for binary files (i.e., displaying differences to the user), with the exception of user-configured diff for specific file formats I suppose. The only thing I can think of then that would be a disadvantage for predominantly binary files would be the efficiency of the diffing algorithm. Subversion uses a binary difference algorithm which should be perfectly fine for your needs: "Efficient handling of binary files Subversion is equally efficient on binary as on text files, because it uses a binary diffing algorithm to transmit and store successive revisions." (subversion.tigris.org) Is there some other functionality you think would be impaired for binary files? I'd also consider what development model you are to be employing for your files. You may decide that monotone, arch or darcs may be more useful. -- Jon Dowland http://jon.dowland.name/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
