Hi
I installed sarge
from weekly isos dated 25/10-2004 on a new computer with nforce3 chipset.
Installed with default kernel 2.4.27
First only the the
base packages, then x-window-system and finally kdebase.
Installed the
kernel-headers for the kernel and then the newest NFORCE drivers from
nvidia for ethernetadapter and sound (nvnet and nvsound)
Got ethernet to
work. Nvsound is also loaded (/proc/modules says so) but so is also a
snd-intel8x0 driver, whick i dont think i need. The Nvidia NForce Readme says
that snd-intel8x0 driver has to be commented out in /etc/modules.conf but there
is no line there with the driver. Where else may it be configured
?
The problem starts
when i startx and KDE is starting. An error message says that there is a problem
with arts. I get no sound.
Questions
:
1. How do i unload a
driver (to be unloaded after a reboot also). I tried rmmod and the driver got
away from /proc/modules but was reloaded at boot.
2. Is there any
known trouble with arts and KDE togheter with sarge and nforce3 chipsets
?
3. Any other tips
?
Thanks
!
