Looks like you're logged into X as one user, then opening a terminal window and becoming another user (root?) to install applixware. Probably the quickest/easiest fix is to log out of X and then log back in as the user (root?) who will be doing the install.

If this isn't the problem, I'm not sure why you're having issues.
