well... you were right!! They are receiving 404's... At least that is what access.log is reporting. However, when I tried what Mathias Tauber said, I got the source code for the root "index.html" instead of 404... very strange! Can this be explained?
my fault, I had this problem a long time ago...
You don't receive the 404 page as I told you. I think it's the same as requesting http://your.server.ip in your browser. Or not?
