Sure, as most people say, there is no such thing as a perfect mailclient. These days I use evolution as my main email client, quite stable, vfolders are really great, but it lacks in global search (it can be done with vfolders, but you don't want to create a vfolder for each simple global search you want to do). Because mail move through an imap server on the way to my computer, I can do some sorting with sieve on the mailserver. If I don't want to download all the mails, I just check the main folders on imapserver using mutt. Someone here say that mutt is slow, I think it is blazing fast for this (but you need to keep the number of messages in each folder low). And guess what, mail-lists like debian lists with tons of spam, and other more or less interesting list, I just move over to my google mail account. So, there is no such thing as a single really good all purpose email client, but a combination of some of the best out there may do the trick!
