Hi All, Firstly, let me apologize for the off-topic post.
I am considering compiling some software with optimizations to try to speed up my machine. I considered going to something like gentoo but would rather not *have to* compile all software. My questions are. 1. How easy is it to set something up so a group of packages get automatically compiled (with some preset flags for optimization). 2. Which all packages are the prime candidates. Presumably XFree86 is a candidate - what about libc and suchlike. I already compile the kernel. Would compiling gcc speed up compiling ? 3. How much minimum spare hard drive space would I need? 3. Is it worth it ? I am Running Debian testing/unstable with XFRee86, GNOME2 and Metacity with the most used apps being Evolution, Galeon, Gnome-Terminal, Anjuta and gcc Regards, Shri -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
